Francisco Manuel Anguas Rodriguez was born in 1990 in Seville, Spain. He got Bachelor degree at the Royal Conservatory of Music ‘Victoria Eugenia’ in Granada and graduated as a Master from the Rostock University of Music and Drama with Torsten Schönfeld (Staatskapelle Berlin), prof. Henrik M. Schmidt (DSO) and Jan-Frederick Behrend (Elbtonal Percussion). In 2015 he studied as a guest student at the Toho University (Tokyo) with Keiko Abe.

2016/2018 he worked as a solo timpanist in Vorpommern Philharmonic orchestra. Since September 2015 he has played as the timpanist at the Berlin Academy of old music, has concerts around Europe and records CD. Francisco takes part in chamber music projects with Elbtonal Percussion, Beat Blast, with piano-duo Chipak-Kushnir and Neophon Ensemble. He gained orchestra experience as a guest player in Staatskapelle Berlin, Berlin Comic Opera, Paris Insula Orchestra, Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle, Batzdorfer Hofkapelle, Stuttgart Bach academy and different orchestras in Spain. Between 2015 and 2019 he worked in Bayreuth festival.

As a soloist and a chamber musician he won the following competitions:

“Ian Murray” (Aracena, Spain, 2007) 1 Prize

“Ciutat de Llíria” (Liria, Spain, 2008) 2 Prize

“Conservatory soloists’ competition” (Granada, Spain, 2010) 2 Prize.

As a soloist he played with Rostock Northern Germany Philharmonic (german premiere “Tumbleweed” by Miseon Jeong), HTM orchestra (broadcasted live in Northern Germany) and Conservatory orchestra in Granada. Various concerts led him to his homeland Spain, to Germany, Portugal, Japan.

In February 2018 he played the world premiere of “Wind across mountains” for marimba and string orchestra by Keiko Abe with Vorpommern Philharmonic orchestra and the german premiere of “The wave impression” for two marimbas and the orchestra by Keiko Abe.

He currently works as a lecturer for percussion instruments at the Schwerin Conservatory.
